About the Author

Doug Lester has been in photography in one way or another for more than forty years. Before retiring from commercial photography in 2000, Doug produced many photographs which were published in ads, magazine illustrations point of purchase photos and a great deal of public relations photos for entertainers and corporate officials. For about fourteen years, he was a certified photography instructor for Uncle Sam, teaching one and two week, in-depth courses dealing with all aspects of photography. In addition to his commercial work and his formal teaching, Doug supervised a major government photography operation for fifteen years, photographing everything from government officials to crime scenes.

His first photography book, Crime Photographer's Handbook, published by Paladin Press in 1994 (ISBN0-87364-850-1), dealt with a specialty subject, forensic photography. This, Doug's second instructional text, deals with the fundamentals of making quality photographs, in a far more general way. In addition to the basics of photography, it provides detailed information, including about 140 diagrams and photos, showing his own working techniques and specifics on how his successful scenic and fine art nude images are produced.

Doug work has been exhibited in juried salons of photographic art and galleries in fifteen states, plus three times in Canada.
